I did not see any of that coming。 Anyone who knows me knows that Im hard to shock but this book shocked me to my core。 I’ve read several of this authors books but this one topped the cake。 This book was about a mother who was very protective of her son。 She would do anything to make sure he was not harmed in any way, shape, or form。 This mother knew her ex had moved on but should she trust her ex’s new girlfriend or not especially around her son? That’s the million dollar question that needed to be answered。 Strange things have been happening ever since the new girlfriend has been in the picture。 Is this just a coincidence or is there something more sinister going on? You found out this and so much more by the end of the book。 I don’t even know where to start with this review。 I’m speechless and that’s hard to do。 I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait for this author to write more。 This book brought out so many emotions in me。 I am a mother myself so I do know what’s it like to want to protect my child at all costs。 I am however married to my child’s father so I’m not sure what I would do if another woman was to enter my child’s life。 I do know though I would be very cautious and investigate that person。 There are so many bad people in this world and you just never know what kind of crazy you are dealing with。 I love it when a book really makes you think what you would do in that same situation。 I also loved the plot and that’s what drew me to this book。 I’m a sucker for any kind of books dealing with kids。 They are vulnerable and innocent so they always make for a good storyline。 Now on to my favorite part of the book, the ending。 That twist at the end made this book。 I couldn’t believe it。 This author did such a great job making you think that the book was going one way and then BAM it went in another direction。 This is the kind of book that will stay with you and I’m so happy I decided to read it。 Between the plot, characters and all the twists in this book it made it an easy and fast read。 I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 。。。more

I do like a Sheryl Browne book because I find the domestic thrillers she writes realistic, possible, engaging and extremely easy to read。 There aren't any gruesome bits or much violence, instead the tension is created by what is implied and through the unequivocal fact that there is always an emotionally damaged, fatally flawed character (or more) often accompanied by a sense of the ordinary 'victim' not being believed and questioning their own sanity。In My Husband's Girlfriend, there seems to b I do like a Sheryl Browne book because I find the domestic thrillers she writes realistic, possible, engaging and extremely easy to read。 There aren't any gruesome bits or much violence, instead the tension is created by what is implied and through the unequivocal fact that there is always an emotionally damaged, fatally flawed character (or more) often accompanied by a sense of the ordinary 'victim' not being believed and questioning their own sanity。In My Husband's Girlfriend, there seems to be the perfect amount of realism, past trauma, love interest and specific details to add an essence of originality to a vastly saturated market for this type of book。 The characters are realistically drawn, to the extent that they could live next door to you, and the plot lines are believable because they centre on things that could, unfortunately, so easily happen。In this novel there is the tug of love and separation anxiety experienced when a couple split but share a child。 The plot incorporates the messy emotions which exist when ex partners forge new relationships and there is even more of a desire to protect your offspring and hang on to the linked-by-flesh-and-blood ties, whilst also having to trust in someone who is a stranger that s/he will be caring and kind to the most precious gift you possess。 Sarah adores her almost 4 year old son Ollie and whilst she appreciates Steve, his Dad, also loves him dearly, she feels compelled to check out Steve's new partner Laura now that they are living together。Sarah is also embarking upon a new relationship with Joe, a very distant old flame and local police officer。 Cracks appear rapidly in their tentative attempts at dating because Sarah is overwhelmed with unease at various separate pieces of information simply not adding up where Laura is concerned。With liberal hints at dark pasts and enough trauma to change a person for good, who can Sarah trust? Can she even trust herself?Pacy, sinister and shocking, this was another storyline I could only piece together partially, genuinely exclaiming out loud at a twist toward the end。Highly recommended read for all lovers of the genre and i eagerly await the next Sheryl Browne book。 Thanks as always to the author, publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read ahead of publication。 。。。more

Ahh I always love Sheryl Browne’s writing and this was no different! This book was my favorite that she has written! I’m obsessed with the alternating chapters from multiple characters’ POV。 I love that the twists weren’t just dumped all at the end but were unraveled throughout the book! I loved cheering for certain characters and booing others! As usual, Sheryl gives us a glowing 5 star read and makes me so excited for her next book!!!

I was literally on the edge of my seat wondering how it was going to play out。 This scene was very fast paced, suspenseful, thrilling, gripping, and two shocking twists! It was unbelievable! To say I enjoyed it was an understatement。 The writing is absolutely spot on and totally snares the reader into becoming almost as desperately neurotic as Sarah is。 I had total empathy for her though。 I have been that woman!!The clever way this is book is written is that its actually impossible to dislike Laura。 She comes across as the perfect person you'd want in your child's life and yet even though little nuggets of information are dropped into the storyline that make you question her motives, you still have that sympathy for her and become totally caught up in her drama and her vulnerability。 But, can we trust our own instincts here where Laura is concerned? As for her mother! Eurgh! What a horrible woman! Little Ollie however was just absolutely adorable! This book kept me gripped right through to the end, dangling clues at me throughout。 And, what an ending! I've always loved Sheryl Browne's writing and I feel it just gets better with every book she writes。 This was such an easy, uncomplicated read and not bogged down with too much information and too many twisty turns to confuse the reader but enough to make you question everything and trust no-one! I absolutely flew through it! Brilliant read and highly recommended。 。。。more

I loved this book from start to finish。 It bases itself around the split of a couple and their issues with new partners and their 4 year old son。 You are always left wondering who is telling the truth and who is lying。 And even though the lies are probably that, there is always some justifiable explanation which then makes you doubt and as the reader you are constantly torn between each of the four main characters。 As a female you are likely to empathise with Sarah regarding her new partner and I loved this book from start to finish。 It bases itself around the split of a couple and their issues with new partners and their 4 year old son。 You are always left wondering who is telling the truth and who is lying。 And even though the lies are probably that, there is always some justifiable explanation which then makes you doubt and as the reader you are constantly torn between each of the four main characters。 As a female you are likely to empathise with Sarah regarding her new partner and her ex's partner - quite a few of us have been there! Preconceptions have taken over! Lies have transformed truths。 Sarah and Laura are butting heads and there can only be one winner, right?! Steve, Joe, Courtney, Jacob, Grant, or heck-Sherry。。Ok, Sheryl Browne - you get the crown for the day on this one! This book blew my doors in and took me hostage for the entire day。 I'm not kidding!I read this with so much intensity that I stumbled over myself and had to go back and re-read portions because I couldn't believe what I was reading。First, let me just say I read the book titled, "The Whisper" and anyone who knows me knows I always save the best for last。 A good book isn't always based on a cover, a premise, or even the writing but rather the journey。In this case we have a book's journey that led us down this intricately detailed pathway landing us right in the heart of the most dangerous of situations。Custody, support, divorce, and yes, the dreaded -step parenting- including co-parents。What I loved about this book: EVERYTHING! In fact, the closing author's notes really hit home for me and caused some triggers。I have to be brutally honest: Sheryl Browne's words hit home。 I'll quote it here: I think many of us tend to judge people by their appearance。 Firstly, their physical appearance, the clothes they might wear。 the 'self' they present to the world。 We assess them by the way they speak, their mannerisms, their confidence or lack thereof。 We make judgements based on information they might share about their life, their relationships, qualifications, career。 If a person admits to being in an abusive relationship, would we perceive them as vulnerable? Would we think of them strong for ending that relationship? How would we judge a person who might withhold information precisely because they don't want to be judged? With suspicion, perhaps? Would we condemn our judgmental selves if we jumped to wrong conclusions? 。。。Do our own preconceptions and life experiences come into play? As human beings, we send out so many complicated signals。 Are we always reading body language and the signals a person is sending out correctly? If someone is hiding something, not making eye contact, is it because they are being deceitful, or are they simply shy or uncomfortable?Go ahead, re-read that last sentence。。。 I'll give you time。As an abused woman, 47 years young, and single parent x 3 , of a spouse who repeated that abuse upon me, I stand here to tell you this is the first person in my 47 years that has figured it out。When I was in court, the judges proclaimed me to be not credible and believable。 I believe it's because of what Sheryl mentioned here。 People are so darn quick to rush to judgements, to feel as though they are qualified to make a diagnosis in a 5-10 minute first time connection。 It's mind blowing that this continues today。But I digress, we're in the midst of a nightmare as these couples battle it out for the sake of appearances and drama。Who has Ollie's best interest in mind? What is this overriding secret? What about these invisible friends? Should we be concerned? Can we ever get over the abuse? Will this cycle continue?OMG!For those who have never dealt this hand of cards let me remind you this is reality for many of us。There's a reason I read this book slowly, meticulously, and carefully because I wanted to extract every bit of this situation。Some people are inherently evil, callous, dark, and disturbing。 Some parents will go to the end to protect their kids while others lack the skills to offer a child unconditional love, guidance, and support and instead infuse toxicity, hatred, vile, and anger。Parents are supposed to protect not place their kids in harms way and sadly this story repeats。Just when I thought I had this one wrapped up I found it sneaking off into another realm that even I missed。For example, it starts off with a cat feud between these two women (the ex vs。 the current gal) but then it slowly transforms into other avenues such as past childhood experiences, parental relationships, and even a horrific loss of a young man named Jacob who was a boy that was lost in all this mess。Power, control, deceit, betrayal, lies。。。and more lies。。。You're not protecting when you lie, you're placing harm and yes, kids know all and tell all。If I may be again brutally honest: I've never been more captivated by one book like I was with this one because the twists felt like the ladder that Steve supposedly fell from and it was brutal- bloodied-battered- and ultimately became defeated in the end。Every time I crept up on the truth the rug was pulled out from underneath me。 Over and over again。Sheryl this is bloody brilliant! Please do keep them coming。。。Thank you to Sheryl Browne, the pub Bookouture, NetGalley, and Amazon Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review。 。。。more

Though it was fast paced, there were not much twists and turns but the ending left me speechless and unexpected that I didn't actually expect that ending!!! Character wise, I do feel sorry for Laura but I was also taking side of Sarah and Ollie sounded adorable。 The situation seemed realistic to me。 I also liked how as a backdrop and eventual twist at the end the author has put Joe's relationship with his ex-wife Courtney。 The writing was good and the author did a good job drawing the reader into the story。 Overall, an unputdownable book that will keep you up all night too! Worth four stars! 。。。more

Julie Lacey,
I love Sheryl Browne’s book and this is another great psychological thriller。 Sarah and Steve have separated but they share custody of their three year old son Ollie。 Steve wants him to stay over at his new girlfriend’s house with him but Sarah asks to meet her first。 Sarah is not sure what to make of Laura at first but agrees to give her a chance。 Soon small things are happening and Sarah thinks Laura is trying to get one up on her all the time。 Steve thinks she’s being ridiculous and her new p I love Sheryl Browne’s book and this is another great psychological thriller。 Sarah and Steve have separated but they share custody of their three year old son Ollie。 Steve wants him to stay over at his new girlfriend’s house with him but Sarah asks to meet her first。 Sarah is not sure what to make of Laura at first but agrees to give her a chance。 Soon small things are happening and Sarah thinks Laura is trying to get one up on her all the time。 Steve thinks she’s being ridiculous and her new partner, Joe also can’t see a problem。 As the story progresses we learn that Laura and her family have a secret and it’s causing problems between Laura and her mother and threatening to ruin her relationship with Steve。 There’s lots of times when you think Sarah is right to question Laura but she does have a knack of talking her way out of things。 I loved the nail biting ending and highly recommend this book。 Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book。 。。。more
Roz,
This is an interesting psychological family thriller which centres on mum Sarah and her ex husband Steve and their respective new partners, policeman Joe and troubled Laura。The story is slow in places but has lots of inter back story and many characters who contribute to the complex plot。Sarah and Steve’s young son Ollie is in the middle of a domestic drama for his attention and interspersed with this is a real threat to him from many sources。A good read but slow and convoluted in places。Thank y This is an interesting psychological family thriller which centres on mum Sarah and her ex husband Steve and their respective new partners, policeman Joe and troubled Laura。The story is slow in places but has lots of inter back story and many characters who contribute to the complex plot。Sarah and Steve’s young son Ollie is in the middle of a domestic drama for his attention and interspersed with this is a real threat to him from many sources。A good read but slow and convoluted in places。Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more
